Number substitution drama game

The Number substitution game can be physical but the main focus is … focus.

Standing in a circle, start counting to 8 one at a time in turn and keep the count going at a fast pace – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3…

After a few iterations, substitute one of the numbers for an action (1, 2, 3, star jump, 5, 6, 7, 8) and after a few iterations of that, substitute another number (1, 2, 3, star jump, 5, 6, clap, 8) etc.

Keep going until at least half the numbers are actions (or more for advanced groups). Try not to lose the initial pace and keep the actions simple.

Optional: this can be blended with the Count Together game for advanced groups or for a longer exercise.

Group size: Any size, from a minimum of about four. Make sure to keep up a decent pace in big groups (20+) to avoid people getting bored between turns

Length: 5 minutes
